On The Marx Brothers’ Producers (Including Me!)

“King Yakko”
This whole episode is one long reference to the Marx Brothers in general and their 1933 classic Duck Soup in particular. To wit:
- An unlikely leading character is appointed leader of a country
- A neighboring country led by a jerk declares war on the first country
- Singing and slapstick ensue
- Yakko, who already has a lot in common with Groucho Marx, is at his Groucho-iest here with lines like “Citizens, I stand before you because if I stood behind you, you couldn’t see me.”
Hooray for President Firefly!
From Innes Book of Records, Neil Innes plays Groucho, Chico, and Harpo Marx in an original song.
